Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2)

Book Review By: The Bean Town Reader

Catching Fire is the second book in The Hunger Games trilogy.
In this book we join Katniss in the victors village where she lives in a large house with her mother and sister, Prim. Peeta lives next door though they don't have much contact since coming home from the Games, and Haymitch lives next door.
After winning The 74th Hunger Games Katniss has been trying her best to live a low key existence. She gets a visit from President Snow who tells her that she has started something of an uprising in some of the districts after her stunt with the berries in the Games. He tells her that during her and Peetas victor tour through the districts and Capital that she needs to convince not only the people of the nation, but to convince him that her and Peeta are in love and that the Capital has been good to them. Katniss and Peeta are to distract the nations people.
Every 25 years the Hunger Games are a bit different then then any other years. Called the Quarter Quell, Katniss discovers, to her horror, that the tributes this year will be reaped from the remaining victors. As Katniss is the only female victor of District 12, it is guaranteed that Katniss will return to the arena. She goes to Haymitch to make a deal with him, he is to save Peeta no matter what.  Haymitch will volunteer is Peeta, but on the day of the reaping Peeta volunteers to go to the Games.

I will say it yet again...I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! When I read that Katniss was going back to the Games I was shocked!
I loved reading of the growing love between Katniss and Peeta, even though we started the book off with them not having spoken for a while. I feel that we really get to see how much Katniss really does love him in this book. (to Gales dismay) I also loved the arena, it was so creative making it into a clock with different obstacles in each wedge. The scene where the jabber jays are screaming in the voices of Prim and Annie killed me!
They way the revolution starts to unfold is super interesting. When we discover that Katniss has allies in the arena who help her and Peeta along the way was awesome!
And that ending! Wow!
Again this book received 5 out of 5 stars from me! I highly recommend.
